Christmas Carols & Markets

The Minda BankSA Christmas Carols and Markets attracted close to 1500 people to the lawns at Brighton on Saturday December 9, with everyone joining in an afternoon of singing, stalls and entertainment.

We were delighted to have Rachael Leahcar headline the event with songs including ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ and ‘Away In A Manger’. She brought the event to an exciting close, joined on stage by Joe Braithwaite and Santa, singing ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’, which was very popular with the crowd.

Other popular entertainment on the day included Sisters of Abundance and Hyperdance dance groups, the 10/27th Battalion – Royal South Australia Regiment Band, Adelaide Sound Connection acapella group, Tutti Choir and Brighton Secondary School.

We also heard from Sisters of Invention, R-U Serious and Sing Australia Glenelg Choir.

A big well done to the Leadership Team who were our MCs for the day, doing a fantastic job in introducing all the acts and speakers.

Speakers included Minda’s Chief Executive Officer Cathy Miller and Ambassador for Minda, Paralympian Katrina Webb who was the MC for the evening.

Cathy welcomed the crowd, saying she was especially pleased to see so many of our neighbours and the local community at the event.

“The reason I love Carols is not just because of the many great stalls, enthusiastic singing and festive spirit, but because it gives everyone here at Minda a chance to really connect with the wider community,” she says.

“It’s also a great opportunity to see the wonderful work of our many volunteers; there is so much we couldn’t achieve without their generosity and commitment.”
