International Day of People with Disability

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) was celebrated at Minda on December 1 – and was all about having fun for the people we support.

Activities on the lawns at the Brighton site included Harley rides, Mustang rides, and a petting zoo.

There was a visit from Santa, a sausage sizzle and some great music from volunteer band R-U Serious.

IDPwD acknowledges the contributions, skills and achievements of people with disability. It’s a day where individuals, businesses, community organisations and governments from around the world come together to break down barriers and show their support of respect, inclusion and choice for everyone.

Minda’s Chief Executive Officer Cathy Miller says this year’s theme was ‘Transformation towards a sustainable and resilient society for all’.

“It’s about leaving no-one behind and empowering people with disability to contribute actively to society,” she told the crowd.

“For Minda, it means supporting people with disability to achieve their goals so they can live a great life.”
